Shocking new figures released by the Office for National Statistics show an 11% annual increase in the number of pregnant women under the age of 18. Across the county there was a total of 93 pregnancies during 2013, of which 18 were females under 16 years of age. That works out at a rate of 41.2 for every 1,000 females in the age group - the highest in the country and the fifth highest in England and Wales as a whole.
